Doug Bourgeois was appointed to the Highland Township Downtown Development Authority (DDA) board by the township Board of Trustees on Wednesday, April 13.
Bourgeois, who is currently a fire marshal with the Highland Township Fire Department, will be finishing out the term of Doreen Kosieracki, who stepped down earlier this year. Kosieracki’s term is set to expire on Dec. 31, 2012.
Township Supervisor Triscia Pilchowski said she believes Bourgeois will be “really good addition” to the DDA board.
“He works out of Station No. 1 near Livingston (Road), which is (in) close proximity to the (DDA) district,” she said. “He also interacts with a lot of business people and has an established rapport with local business owners, which is a good way to see what they want to see happen in the district. I think (Bourgeois) will fill (Kosieracki’s) shoes very well as he is very active.”
The DDA is a public corporate entity dedicated to revitalizing the Highland Station area centered around the intersection of Milford and Livingston roads, as well as its surrounding commercial and industrial district. It is committed to promoting economic growth in and around Highland Station, as well as historic preservation, while remaining sensitive to those living and working in the area.
DDA members do not get paid for their service.
