Corsairs hold on to early division lead with win, tie

Waterford Mott maintained its early first-place hold on the Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) North Division race with a win and a tie last week.

Mott (3-0-1 overall, 1-0-1 in the KLAA North) began the week with a 5-3 victory at Huron Valley Lakeland on Wednesday, April 13.

Kate Golfis and Meggy McConkey each scored two goals for the Corsairs while Hannah Rhoades contributed three assists.

“We were calm and efficient in front of the goal and made the most of our opportunities,” said Mott Head Coach Evan Baker.

Lakeland fell to 3-2-1 and 0-2 in the KLAA North.

Mott then traveled to Walled Lake Central on Friday, April 15 and came away with a 1-1 draw against the Vikings.

Lexanna Siemasz scored Mott’s goal while Katie Ging had a strong game in net for the Corsairs.

Central remains winless at 0-1-2 overall and 0-0-2 in the KLAA North.

Mott was scheduled to play at Rochester yesterday, Tuesday, April 19 after press time, and will host Lake Orion tomorrow, Thursday, April 21 and will travel to Walled Lake Western on Tuesday, April 26.
