Nominations for HVYA youth award due next week

Huron Valley Youth Assistance (HVYA) is seeking nominations for young people in the community who deserve to be honored for exemplary service to their school, church, or community.

Each year, HVYA recognizes and honors young people in grades 3-12 who have proven to be “outstanding citizens” and have performed activities that are “above and beyond” for no particular reason.

In order for the youth to be eligible to be nominated they must:

• Live in or attend school in the Huron Valley School District;

• Not be paid for the activity which they are nominated;

• Not have received an award, academic credit or recognition for this activity; and

• Not perform the activity as part of a service requirement for another organization.

The HVYA intends to recognize all the youths nominated with an award certificate. However, only the top 20 nominees will be recognized at a special continental breakfast that will be held on May 12.

Nominations forms can be received by calling the HVYA office at 248-676-8492 or be picked up at the Huron Valley Youth Assistance Office at the Apollo Center at 2029 N. Milford Road.

All nominations are due by Thursday, April 21.
