The Green Team of Huron Valley will be hosting its fifth annual Earth Family Friendly Fun Festival on Sunday, April 17 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Carls Family YMCA at 300 Family Drive in Milford.
The event is free and no YMCA membership is required.
Linda Crawford, co-founder of the Green Team, said that there will be over 50 environmental learning stations on hand at the festival.
“This will be a learning experience for the entire community,” she said. “We will have stations dedicated to earth-friendly cleaning products and battery recycling.”
She added that patrons are invited to donate used items such as hearing aids, eyeglasses, gently-worn shoes and cellular phones for recycling at the festival.
There will also be numerous activities for children, as well as performances by the 1960s cover band Magic Bus and the North Oakland Storytellers.
Students from Huron Valley Milford High School will also be putting on a “green” fashion show in conjunction with the Our Blessings Consignment Store.
The festival will also have on-site paper shredding available, as well as distribution of 1,000 white pine seedlings for planting.
“We’re expecting 2,000 people. It’s been a real nice evolution,” Crawford said.
The Green Team also had a proposal to cultivate a community garden in the village of Milford approved by the Milford Village Council in February.
