Orchard Lake St. Mary’s began its 2011 season this past week and got off to a rough start with a 2-3 record.
The Eaglets opened the season at home on Tuesday, March 29 with a 10-3 victory over Bloomfield Hills Lahser.
Senior Blaise Salter hit 3-for-3 with a home run and a double while Devin Rose hit 2-for-4 with a home run and a double.
Jon Roberts picked up the win on the mound, pitching 4 innings and striking out 4 batters.
St. Mary’s then welcomed Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice on Wednesday, March 30 for a doubleheader and was swept by the Warriors.
Brother Rice took the first game, 6-4, behind two RBIs from Andrew Sohn and a pinch-hit RBI in the fifth inning by Sammy Stevens.
The Warriors then took the nightcap, 4-2, as Matt Ruptenthal pitched 5 innings and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 batters.
The Eaglets then wrapped up the week by traveling to Warren De La Salle on Saturday, April 2 for a doubleheader and split two games.
St. Mary’s took the opener, 3-2, before the Pilots responded with a 9-5 victory.
The Eaglets will host Novi Detroit Catholic Central today, Wednesday, April 6 before welcoming Dearborn Divine Child on Saturday, April 9.
