Awareness among the goals for new chamber director

The Greater West Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce has a new woman in charge with its new director, Jules Haapala.

Haapala took over the position on Feb. 28 and comes to the chamber after working in the advertising department of SCN Communications Group for seven years.

“The challenge I face is to build membership and increase exposure for our business members,” Haapala said.

“I hope to do this by generating more awareness of the chamber through outreach such as networking and social media.”

She added that membership recruitment and retention are two of her other goals.

Haapala is a White Lake native and resident and also graduated from Walled Lake Central High School.

The Greater West Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce consists of more than 200 members throughout the region and serves businesses in West Bloomfield, Sylvan Lake, Keego Harbor and Orchard Lake.

In addition to working with businesses, the chamber puts on a wide range of events in the township, including Art in Bloom, Grub Crawl, Chamber Business Network, Lunch ‘N Speaker, Business Card Exchange Mixers, and the chamber’s annual awards dinner.
