Ride With Pride pact extended to run through 2013

A few minor adjustments have been made to an intergovernmental agreement between Highland Township, Milford Township, and Milford Village concerning the Ride With Pride/Highland-Milford Transportation program.

All three communities recently approved the updated document over the past month. However, Highland Supervisor Triscia Pilchowski said the adjustments were more about clarifying and updating language than anything else.

“One of the reasons that we had to revisit the language is because Oakland County Community Development Block Grant staff pointed out the agreement was out-of-date,” Pilchowski said. “So Milford reviewed the existing language, and we decided we needed to add more clarity to it. But mainly it was to make sure the contract was not out-of-date.”

There was no changing of funds the communities contribute to the program or changes that put anything at risk, according to Pilchowski.

The main change was that the agreement is now set to expire on Dec. 31, 2013, at which point it may then be renewed for additional one-year periods with mutually acceptable terms.

Ride with Pride is a transportation program among the three communities that provides transportation for senior citizens and adults with disabilities back and forth to work.
