The West Bloomfield Schools Board of Education awarded a series of contracts totaling $574,012 at its March 14 meeting for renovations at West Bloomfield High School, Green and Roosevelt elementary schools and the school district’s administration and community building.
National Restoration of Keego Harbor was awarded contracts of $129,000 and $3,590 for masonry improvements at Roosevelt Elementary and the administration building, respectively; while Masonry Developers of Rochester was awarded an $8,150 contract for masonry improvements at Green Elementary.
For improvements at West Bloomfield High School, Jasman Construction of Whitmore Lake was awarded a contract of $187,297 for lighting improvements.
F&P Painting of Shelby Township was awarded a contract of $69,900, while Marble Grinding & Polishing of Washington Township was awarded a $67,500 contract.
Shock Brothers Floor Covering of Roseville was awarded a $99,800 contract for tile flooring, while Stamprite/Supersign was selected for a $8,775 contract for interior building signage.
Most of the projects will begin at the end of the current school year.
Last June, the school board adopted a resolution authorizing the sale of $15 million in school construction bonds through the Michigan Municipal Bond Authority, which consists of numerous school districts.
In 2010, the district awarded over $1 million in contracts for roof replacement at West Bloomfield High, Orchard Lake Middle, and Doherty Elementary schools, as well as the replacement of lighting at West Bloomfield High School athletic fields.
The district also approved contracts last year for plumbing at Orchard Lake Middle and Doherty Elementary schools; and heating, ventilation and air conditioning installations and electrical improvements at the Abbott, Orchard Lake, Doherty and Ealy school buildings.
