Suspect in fraud cases arrested and arraigned

A suspect in several alleged frauds, including one in Milford, was arrested in Fort Wayne, Ind. on Tuesday, March 15 before being extradited to Michigan and arraigned in 52-1 District Court in Novi.

The suspect, 43-year-old Samuel Demetrious Hill, is currently being held on a $500,000 bond. He was charged with allegedly obtaining money under false pretenses.

Back in February, Milford police received a complaint from a resident alleging that Hill scammed him out of several thousand dollars.

According to the complaint, the victim was told by Hill that he had sued the Michigan Department of Corrections successfully for several million dollars and that the state was withholding his award because of outstanding bills.

In exchange for help, the suspect allegedly promised the victim money after it was released, when the bills were paid, and also used false documentation.

Milford police state that there may be more victims in Michigan and Indiana and ask that anyone who has had a similar experience or contact with Hill to file a report with their local police department.
