A Commerce Township man was killed when he was struck by a car on Thursday, March 17 in Waterford Township.
The accident occurred at 10:34 p.m. on Cass Elizabeth Road near Iroquois Avenue. Waterford public safety personnel responded to the scene shortly thereafter.
During the investigation it was revealed that a 55-year-old Waterford man was driving westbound on Cass Elizabeth Road in a 2003 Honda Civic when he saw something in the roadway. The man applied his brakes but couldn’t come to a complete stop before dragging the object a short distance.
When the man realized he hit 29-year-old Garrett Gresh, he called 911.
Apparently Gresh was walking in the roadway and was previously struck by a Saturn Aura XE that fled the scene. Police have since located the Saturn, but the accident remains under investigation.
Alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor in the accident at this time.
Anyone with information regarding the accident should contact Waterford Police Officer Stanley Mathewson at 248-618-6086 or Sergeant Kevin Kazyak at 248-618-6073.
