Mott peppered by Brother Rice, 10-3, in state playoffs

Waterford Mott’s season came to a close with a 10-3 loss to Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice in a Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Division 2 state quarter-final on Tuesday, March 8.

JD Clemence scored two goals for Mott (19-9), while Stephen Price also scored a goal for the Corsairs.

Brother Rice (23-6-1) went on to defeat Kingsford, 4-1, in a Division 2 semi-final on Thursday, March 10 before falling to Wyandotte Roosevelt, 4-1, in the MHSAA Division 2 state final on Saturday, March 12 at Compuware Arena in Plymouth.

The Corsairs won the Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) North Division title and a regional championship this season, emerging as one of the more dominant teams in the lakes area.

With only five seniors graduating for the Corsairs, Mott will be expected to make another run next season and they hope to end it with championships under their belt.
