Orchard Lake St. Mary’s split its final two regular season games against Detroit Public Schools teams before heading into the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) District Tournament beginning this week.
The Eaglets began last week with a 48-47 home victory over Detroit Finney on Tuesday, March 1.
St. Mary’s (11-9) led 14-12 after the first quarter and 28-25 at halftime before taking a 39-34 lead after the third quarter and holding on to win in the fourth.
Allen Robinson led St. Mary’s with 15 points. Corey Lucas and Sean Covington each had 11.
On Friday, March 4, St. Mary’s fell at home in its regular season finale, 87-68, to Detroit Pershing.
The score was tied at 12-12 at halftime before Pershing took a 34-28 halftime lead. Both teams scored 22 points in the third quarter before Pershing went on a 31-18 run in the fourth quarter.
Sherron Dorsey-Walker had 33 points for Pershing, while Venyon Bentley had 24.
Robinson led the Eaglets with 32 points. Lucas had 12.
St. Mary’s will have a first round bye in the MHSAA district tournament at Farmington and will face either Farmington or Walled Lake Western in a district semi-final tonight, Wednesday, March 9.
The district final is on Friday, March 11 at 7 p.m.
