Six-peat: Eaglets trample Northville, earn another title

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s won its sixth consecutive regional championship last week as it seeks a return to the state final four.

The Eaglets defeated Northville 9-3 in a Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Division 1 regional final at Eddie Edgar Ice Arena in Livonia on Saturday, March 5.

Connor Lyons had a hat trick and an assist for the Eaglets (17-10), while Cody Milan had 2 goals and 2 assists. Trevor Bardallis, Stephen Zorc, Cooper Anslett and Luke Rodgers each scored a goal for St. Mary’s, while Ryan Foe was credited with 3 assists.

Austin Julvezan and Drew Delke shared goaltending duties for the Eaglets.

St. Mary’s will face Livonia Churchill in an MHSAA Division 1 quarter-final tonight, Wednesday, March 9 at The Cube in Ann Arbor.

The winner will face either East Kentwood or Grandville in a Division 1 semi-final at Compuware Arena in Plymouth on Friday, March 11.

The Division 1 state final is Saturday, March 12 at Compuware.

Prior to the regional final, St. Mary’s defeated Livonia Stevenson 5-3 in a Division 1 pre-region final on Wednesday, March 2 at St. Mary’s Ice Arena.

Foe had a goal and two assists and Bardallis had a goal and an assist for St. Mary’s, while Jake Smyth, David Muth and Alan Boozer each scored a goal.

The Eaglets started the regional tournament with a 2-1 pre-region win over Farmington United at St. Mary’s Ice Arena.

Sean Harrington and Rodgers each scored for St. Mary’s while Foe had 2 assists.
