Huron Valley Lakeland’s season came to an end in a 38-24 defeat at the hands of host Hartland in a Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Class A district semi-final on Wednesday, March 2.
The Eagles (16-5) trailed 9-6 after the first quarter before Hartland went on a 12-2 run in the second to take a 21-8 halftime lead.
Lakeland was not able to recover and was outscored by Hartland 17-16 in the second half.
Stephanie Lock scored 12 points in her final game in a Lakeland uniform, closing out a remarkable career with the Eagles.
Bailee Maggert scored 13 points for Hartland (20-3), including shooting a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Lakeland had a first round bye entering into last Wednesday’s game.
Hartland went on to defeat Howell two nights later to win the district championship.
Last Wednesday marked the final game for Lakeland seniors Lock, Kelsey Cleary, Rose Deren, Callie Vivian, Jillian Parsons and Sam Mortellaro.
