Waterford Mott’s season came to an end with a 50-39 defeat against host Troy in a Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Class A district semi-final on Wednesday, March 2.
The Corsairs (4-17), who had a first-round bye, trailed 22-2 at the end of the first quarter and were never able to recover.
Lauren Hung led Mott with 14 points, while Troy was led by Liz Siepker with 16 points and Sabria Cotton with 13, as the Colts swept both Waterford Mott and Kettering last week.
Troy went on to fall to Auburn Hills Avondale in the district title game, 57-38, two nights later.
Last Wednesday marked the final game for Mott seniors Gabby Thomas, Courtney Robinson and Rachel Northey, who were part of Mott’s KLAA North Division championship team during the 2009-10 season.
Walled Lake Western saw its season end with a 40-29 loss to Farmington Hills Harrison in an MHSAA Class A district semi-final at Farmington on Wednesday, March 2.
The Warriors (6-15) trailed 19-16 at halftime, but were outscored by Harrison 21-13 in the second half.
Western was led by Brooke Schwandt with 8 points, while Kaitlyn Smith had 7.
Marissa Cotton had 11 points for Harrison (12-11), which would fall to Farmington Hills Mercy, 46-24, in the district final two nights later.
Last Wednesday was the final game for Warrior seniors Amanda Rudey, Bre Wolf and Smith.
Walled Lake Central fell to Howell, 52-26, in an MHSAA Class A semi-final at Hartland on Wednesday, March 2.
Kara Birrell had 11 points for the Vikings (6-15), while Emily Laskowski had 18 points for the Highlanders.
Howell (9-14) went on to fall to host Hartland, 39-32, in the district final two nights later.
Senior Lisa Warrior also scored 7 points in her final game in a Vikings uniform.
