Lakeland ends the regular season with a 4-1 victory

Huron Valley Lakeland completed the regular season with a 4-1 victory over Grand Blanc at Lakeland Ice Arena on Saturday, Feb. 26.

The Eagles (11-10-3) had only two shots on net in a scoreless first period before Even Ronayne scored Lakeland’s first goal in the second period, followed by Bobby Schumacher’s goal minutes later for a 2-0 lead at the second intermission.

Ryan McElroy scored for the Bobcats in the third period before Jordan Blanzy scored two goals for Lakeland to put the game away.

Mitch Leist made 15 saves in net for the Eagles, who were outshot 29-22, while Trevor Kalinowski also had 13 saves for Lakeland.

The Eagles took on Walled Lake Central in a pre-regional playoff game at Hartland Ice House on Tuesday, March 1 after press time, with the winner facing either Hartland or Walled Lake Northern in the pre-regional final on Thursday, March 3.

The regional final is Saturday, March 5.
