Kettering falls to Northville, Howell to move to 9-10

Waterford Kettering dropped two games last week to fall to 9-10 on the season.

The Captains began the week with a 49-43 loss at Northville on Wednesday, Feb. 23.

Kettering Head Coach Brian Tass said the Captains had the lead in the third quarter, but were outrebounded and outworked in the fourth quarter.

Maurice Scott led the Captains with 12 points.

Kettering then returned home on Friday, Feb. 25 to host Howell and lost to the Highlanders, 56-45.

The Captains trailed early in the first quarter before Howell’s Billy Ainsworth and the Howell bench were called for two technical fouls.

Kettering fed off the momentum and took a 25-23 lead at halftime.

But the Highlanders woke up in the second half and outscored Kettering 33-20 to earn the win.

Brandon Nazione finished with a game-high 17 points for Howell, including 13 in the second half, while Torey Williams scored 14.

Steve Wilson finished with 15 points for Kettering in a losing effort, while Brett Hoffman had 11.

Kettering will next host Westland John Glenn tonight, Wednesday, March 2 to finish the regular season.

The Captains will then take on Auburn Hills Avondale in a Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) District Tournament game at Troy Athens on Monday, March 7.
