Volunteers sought for DNR’s frog, toad survey

For the 16th year, the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR), along with volunteers from around Michigan, will be conducting a statewide frog and toad survey. The annual survey efforts help biologists keep track of the frog and toad population and distribution in Michigan. Some medical pot activities allowed in new resolution

In the wake of the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act (MMMA) passed by state voters in 2008, the Waterford Township Board of Trustees adopted a resolution on Monday, March 28 that casts a blind eye to certain in-home and individual activities related to medical marijuana use. Long-time staffers to fill Green’s role for the time being

With Orchard Lake City Clerk Janet Green’s retirement coming June 30, the City Council, along with city administration, most likely will divvy out her duties among two long-time staff members. Parking lot paving expected to cost nearly $220,000

Engineers from Giffels-Webster have provided Commerce Township officials with a preliminary estimate that pegs the cost of paving the parking lot at Dodge Park No. 5 at $219,242. Jeffries tapped to fill vacancy on parks commission

The West Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of Mark Jeffries to fill a vacancy on the township’s Parks and Recreation Commission. Jeffries, 65, will take over for Maxine Brickner, who has retired from the commission and had her resignation accepted by the board at a Monday, March 21 meeting, during which Jeffries was appointed. Proposed village budget comes in at $8.84 million

The Milford Village Council will hold a public hearing on May 2 on the village’s proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2011-12 budget, and has released a draft of the proposed budget. The village will tentatively appropriate $8.84 million in expenditures during the next fiscal year, with $2.17 million coming from the general fund.
