The Oakland County Board of Commissioners is still looking for citizens to serve on a board responsible for overseeing the county’s various mental health initiatives.
County commissioners are looking for citizens to serve on the Oakland Community Mental Health Authority Board. The authority is responsible for assuring provisions for services and support to those individuals in the county who are faced with mental, emotional and developmental disabilities. There are four vacancies on the authority board and county officials are looking for general public representatives, mental health providers, and primary consumers interested in a board appointment.
The deadline for applications is Feb. 28. Applications are available online at www.oakgov.com/boc. Residents can also call 248-858-0103 to request an application.
Applications for the menthal health board can be mailed to 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan, 48341. They can also be faxed to 248-8568-1572.
Commissioners are also seeking applicants for an appointment to the Friend of the Court Citizens Advisory Committee, which reviews and investigates grievances concerning the Friend of the Court. Members serve three-year terms and meet at least six times each year.
The county board seeks to fill the following positions on the committee: one custodial parent representative, one non-custodial parent representative, and two members of the general public unable to serve in any other capacity.
Applications will be accepted through May 12, 2011. Applications are available at the Board of Commissioner’s website cited above, and can be submitted in the same manners described for the menthal health board vacancy.
The Board of Commissioners encourages community involvement through service on one of several boards, committees or commissions. When looking to fill vacancies, the Board of Commissioners reviews applications as part of the selection process before interviewing and appointing a candidate or candidates.
