Captains net a win and a draw at invitational event

Waterford Kettering won one game and tied another at the the Michigan Public High School Hockey Invitational Showcase at the Chelsea Arctic Coliseum last week.

On Friday, Feb. 11, the Captains defeated Marysville 5-4 thanks to a hat trick by Nick Murphy, a goal by Austin Carpenter and the game-winning goal by Zach Zimmerman.

Keegan McGraw got the win in goal, making 17 saves.

On Saturday, Feb. 12 Kettering tied St. Clair Shores Unified 4-4. Murphy again led the way for the Captains with two goals, while Jay Magnan and Ian Nolan each scored a goal.

Kyle Soncrainte had two assists and Tucker Gilliland stopped 22 shots in goal for the Captains.

Kettering (12-6-4) will next play at Canton in the KLAA Showcase on Saturday, Feb. 19.
