Mavericks and Warriors skate to a 3-3 stalemate

Huron Valley Milford and Walled Lake Western skated to a 3-3 tie on Friday, Jan. 28 at the Hartland Sports Center.

Ryan Taylor scored first for Milford (5-11-1) in the first period off assists from Evan Wilson and Dave Thornton, before Zack Mitchell scored for Western (8-7-1) off assists from Cooper Nye and Trevor Couch.

In the second period, Keith Richards scored for Milford off assists from Tyler Matrial and Nick Ferrara, before Josh Raptis tied the score for Western.

Thornton’s goal off assists from Travis Stoutenburgh and Trevor Tierney gave Milford a 3-2 lead at the second intermission.

However, Mitchell’s goal in the third period would tie the game for Western at 3-3, and that’s how the game would end.

Wes Raske had 23 saves for Western while Jake Petsch had 35 saves for Milford.

The Mavericks fell to Grand Blanc, 3-1, on Tuesday, Jan. 25. Tyler Matreal scored Milford’s only goal in the third period.

Western fell to Waterford Mott, 12-4, at Lakeland Ice Arena on Saturday, Jan. 29.

The Mavericks will next face rival Huron Valley Lakeland at Lakeland Ice Arena tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 2.

Western will host Dexter tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 2, at the Kensington Valley Ice House.
