West Bloomfield easily dispatches Oak Park, 59-32

West Bloomfield had only one game last week, but the Lakers made it count as they defeated Oak Park on the road, 59-32, on Thursday, Jan. 20.

The Lakers led 16-3 after the first quarter and 28-13 at halftime before going on a 16-3 run in the third quarter.

Sophomore Sydni Davis continued her strong play, as she finished with 15 points for West Bloomfield (10-2 overall, 5-1 in the Oakland Activities Association White Division), while senior Jailyn Hamilton had 12.

“We were able to get solid contributions from all of our 15 players as everyone was able to get minutes starting in the second quarter,” said West Bloomfield Head Coach Steve Larkin. “What we were looking for in this game and the next couple is trying to find who will be our main contributors moving into February. So far we have been happy with our start but we are at the point in the season where we need to know what certain players are capable of doing as the season grinds on and playoffs start in a month.”

The Lakers hosted Oxford on Tuesday, Jan. 25 after press time and will next host first-place Auburn Hills Avondale on Friday, Jan. 28 in a key OAA White matchup.
