Lakers improve to 7-1 in league play with 41-35 victory

Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes defeated the Frankel Jewish Academy 41-35 on Thursday, Jan. 20 in a Detroit Catholic League contest.

The Lakers (7-3 overall, 7-1 in the Catholic League Intersectional) led the Jaguars 9-8 after the first quarter and 19-15 at halftime. The Jaguars used a 9-4 run to take a 24-23 lead at the end of the third quarter before Our Lady rebounded by outscoring the Jags, 18-11, in the fourth quarter to pull out the win.

Garrett Ross led the Lakers with 18 points, including 7-of-8 free-throw shooting, while Austin Karbowski had 15 points.

Our Lady played at Detroit Urban Lutheran on Tuesday, Jan. 25 after press time and will host first-place Allen Park Cabrini on Friday, Jan. 28.
