Eaglets victorious over Mona Shores, Portage Central

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s picked up two much-needed wins last weekend after suffering a shutout loss the week before.

The Eaglets defeated Muskegon Mona Shores at home, 4-2, on Friday, Jan. 21.

Trevor Bardallis scored the game-winning goal for St. Mary’s (11-4-0 overall, 5-3-0 in the Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League), while Sean Harrington scored his first varsity goal. Joe Janiga made 12 saves in net for the Eaglets.

St. Mary’s then defeated Portage Central on the road, 2-1, on Saturday, Jan. 22.

Ryan May scored for Portage Central in the first period, but St. Mary’s answered, as Bardallis scored in the second period to tie the game at 1-1 and Cody Milan scored the game-winner in the third period.

Connor Lyons and Alan Boozer each had an assist for the Eaglets, while Drew Delke made 14 saves in net and Austin Julvezan had 7 in splitting time for St. Mary’s.

Prior to last weekend, the Eaglets were coming off a 5-0 loss at home to Birmingham Brother Rice in an MIHL contest.

The Eaglets played Brother Rice in a rematch at Oak Park Ice Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 25, after press time. St. Mary’s was 6 points behind first-place Warren De La Salle in the MIHL.

This weekend, the Eaglets will travel to Culver, Ind. to play two games against the famed Culver Military Academy on Saturday, Jan. 29 and Sunday, Jan. 30.
