Walled Lake Central swept two Waterford schools last week and now sits alone atop the Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) North Division.
Central began the week with a 58-48 victory at Waterford Mott on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
The Vikings (8-2 overall, 5-0 in the KLAA North) led 15-12 after the first quarter before using a 14-8 run to go up 29-20 at halftime. The Vikings were outscored, 12-10, in the third quarter, but responded by outscoring the Corsairs, 19-16, in the fourth.
Hayden Coe led the Vikings with 17 points, including 9-of-10 free-throw shooting, while Louis Nelson had 13 points.
Drew Hovesepian scored 12 points for Mott, while Chris Dewberry had 10.
Mott is now 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the KLAA North.
Central then followed up with a 55-43 victory at Waterford Kettering on Friday, Jan. 21.
The score was tied at 9-9 after the first quarter before Kettering took a 24-22 halftime lead.
But, Central went on an 11-6 run in the third quarter and closed the game out by outscoring the Captains 22-13 in the fourth.
Coe had 19 points for the Vikings. Adam Coric had 12.
Brett Hoffman led the Captains with 14 points, while Steve Wilson had 10.
Central remains undefeated in the KLAA North at 5-0, giving them a two-game lead over second-place Waterford Mott.
Kettering (6-4) and Huron Valley Lakeland are both tied for third at 2-3.
Central played in a KLAA crossover game at Hartland on Tuesday, Jan. 25 after press time, and will host Huron Valley Lakeland on Friday, Jan. 28.
