Waterford Kettering went 1-2-1 this past week to move to 9-4-3 on the season.
Kettering (9-4-3) began the week with a 4-2 loss to Howell on Wednesday, Jan. 12.
The Captains had a 2-1 lead in the third period thanks to a power-play goal by Zach Zimmerman and a goal by Brandon Lopez.
However, Howell scored three unanswered goals to steal the victory.
Kettering then rebounded with a 3-2 win over Walled Lake Western on Friday, Jan. 14 at Lakeland Ice Arena.
Nick Murphy scored Kettering’s first goal before Kyle Shreve tied the game for Western (7-5, 1-4) on the power play and the game was tied at 1-1 at the first intermission.
Kyle Soncrainte gave Kettering a 2-1 lead in the second period before AJ Patrick tied the game for the Warriors on a short-handed goal.
Justin Haley responded for Kettering with a go-ahead goal, but Josh Raptis scored for Western on the power play and the game was tied at 3-3 at the second intermission.
In the third period, Zimmerman scored the game-winning goal for Kettering on a rebound off an Alex Grix shot.
Kettering wrapped up the week with a 4-2 loss to Birmingham Unified on Saturday, Jan. 15.
The Captains fell behind 2-0 in the first period, but answered with two goals in the second period by Nick Murphy.
However, Drake Braun scored two goals in the third to give Birmingham the victory.
The Captains will be back in action tonight, Wednesday, Jan. 19, when they host Grand Blanc at Lakeland Ice Arena. Then on Saturday, Jan. 22, Kettering will face rival and KLAA North leader Waterford Mott.
