Walled Lake Central defeated rival Walled Lake Western, 36-27, on the road on Friday, Jan. 14.

Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes split two games last week to fall to 7-1 and 2-1 in the Catholic League East Division.

Our Lady began the week at Allen Park Cabrini on Monday, Jan. 10 and lost its first game of the season, 47-33.

“Cabrini wanted that game more than us right from the beginning and it showed with their effort. By the time we started trying to match their intensity, we had already dug ourselves a pretty big hole,” said Our Lady Head Coach Steve Robak.

Lauren Robak led the Lakers with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

The Lakers then returned home on Thursday, Jan. 13 to host Madison Heights Bishop Foley and came away with a 65-48 victory.

Our Lady led 35-33 at halftime before building its lead to 52-37 at the end of the third quarter.

“I was happy with our effort on defense in the second half and I thought we were able to get the tempo to a faster pace, which is the way we prefer to play, and that allowed us to get good shots in transition and kind of jump started the offense, as well,” Coach Robak said.

Lauren Robak had 22 points, 10 rebounds and 7 steals for Our Lady. Lexie Robak had 17 points, including five 3-pointers, and Ava Doetsch had 13.

Our Lady hosted Marine City Cardinal Mooney on Monday, Jan. 17 after press time and will travel to Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood on Saturday, Jan. 22.
