From Mark J. Smith, Waterford Township:
Are you kidding me? The RCOC (Road Commission for Oakland County) is giving out salary increases in the midst of one of the biggest recessions in history?
Every community, city, county and state is faced with huge decreases in tax income, and the RCOC agreed to wage increases? These people need to give up wages and be glad they even have a job.
To me, this is typical of one of the most arrogant and incompetent agencies I have ever encountered anywhere. We nearly lost one of our businesses because of the total lack of concern about business losses from construction by the RCOC. They waste time half plowing our street and dumping salt on it. This makes it worse, not better, but nobody at the RCOC seems to care. They do whatever they want, whenever they want and apparently report to nobody.
I think we need to look at making some serious changes to how the RCOC is structured and operated.
