County officials approve language of two petitions seeking the recall of West Bloomfield Trustee Brown

Drops in assessment figures not as steep as in past years
Preliminary information released by the Oakland County Equalization Division indicates assessed residential property values in western Oakland County have continued to fall significantly in the last year — but not as sharply as they did in each of the previous two years. The White Lake Township Board of Trustees has unanimously appointed Greg Baroni as the new township supervisor to replace Mike Kowall, who is now serving in the state Senate. Man charged in killing of police officer
A 48-year-old Detroit man was charged Wednesday, Jan. 19 with three felony counts — including murder — after he and his brother broke into a Walled Lake home, leading to a shootout that killed both an undercover Livonia police officer and one of the suspects. Filing deadline nears for May election
The clerk’s office in Highland Township is already ordering supplies in preparation for the upcoming special elections to select a new District 2 county commissioner.
